MCCOLLUM, Eric William It is with sadness we announce that Eric died at home on Oct.29, surrounded by his family. Eric was born on a farm in Dundas county Ontario in 1921. He worked for the Hudson Bay Company spending 11 years as a trader on Baffin Island. Eric was an avid Ham radio operator, life-long member of the Powell River Legion, a member of the Sidney Branch, and a volunteer with the Emergency Preparedness Services. Eric is survived by June, his wife of 58 years, his children: Richard McCollum (Lorrie), Mary Jamieson, Jayne Beason (Rick) and Jill deGoey (John), seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren who will miss their Bumpa". The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Response Team for their loving care and support. While Eric has requested no service, the family would like to invite friends and relatives to an open house at 6659 Wallace Dr, Brentwood Bay on Sunday, Nov.1 from 1 to 4 p.m. Those wishing to honour Eric's memory can donate to the Victoria Hospice Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. 566976
