Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Crestwood Funeral Home for Emma Leatrice Horton, Gadsden, who died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009. Pastor Shane Coppock will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Horton was a native of Marshall County and a resident of Gadsden and Etowah County during her adult life. Ms. Horton was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Horton was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with more than 40 years of service. Ms. Horton was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and dear friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Newton Horton; sisters, Vivian Long, Juanita Rosson, Colleen Horton and Zemma Turner; and brother, Travis Horton. She is survived by her brothers, L.H. Horton, Dallas, Texas, and Anthony Wayne (Ernestine) Horton, Huntsville; sister, Loudeen (Charlie) Whatley, Franklin, Texas; and many special nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The family would like to thank Ms. Horton's friends of many years, Corthell Jackson, Buddy and Mary Sandlin, Ralph and Katherine Moore and Shelton "Preacher" Bartlett for their kindness, visits and concern during her illness. The family would like to express its appreciation to Dr. Webb Sledge and his staff and to the staff and attending physicians in the CCU at Riverview Regional Medical Center. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity.
