ObituaryEmily Sherrill Walker, 87, of Overland Park, KS passed away December 26, 2005 at her home.Emily was born on August 28, 1918 in Cornelius, North Carolina, one of eight children born to Frank and Molly Sherrill. She attended Brenau College receiving her BS degree in 1940 then obtained a Masters Degree in Social work From Tulane University in New Orleans, LA in 1956. Emily was in the Red Cross during WWII and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She married Joseph E. Walker in Newport Arkansas. in 1958. They traveled extensively with the Foreign Service living in Khartoum Sudan and Asuncion Paraguay. Emily was a Hospice Volunteer and active in her church. She was a member of the Elks Club and a phenomenal Bridge player. Preceded in death by her husband ,Joseph E. Walker, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Among her survivors is her son W. James Foland and daughter in law Kathy of Kansas City, two grandchildren, Michael C. Foland (20) and Matthew D. Foland (19) and her sister Kathryn Harris of Charlotte, North Carolina. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral , FL. Inurnment will be in the Coral Ridge Cemetery in Cape Coral Florida. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross.Forever Cremation Society of Kansas City.
