Mrs. Emily Elizabeth Ashcroft (née Rogers) June 06, 1924 - August 07, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) ASHCROFT, Emily Elizabeth - 81, Halifax, passed away in the QEII Health Sciences Centre on August 7, 2005, after a valiant and courageous battle against Alzheimer's disease. Born in Great Village, she was a daughter of Stanley E. Rogers and Juanita M. (Tupper) Rogers. Her childhood homes included Bass River, Millstream and Oxford. She was a lifetime member of Fairview United Church and Ethel Patterson Group of the U.C.W. Emily was a veteran of the Second World War having served in the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps as a financial clerk. Married in 1943, she leaves to mourn her husband, Hugh; daughters, Beverly (John) Low and Heather Terry, both of Lower Sackville; son, Harry (Mary) Ashcroft, Dartmouth; granddaughters, Rhonda (Stephen) Woodward, Leah and Janine Terry, Lower Sackville; Naomi Ashcroft, Dartmouth; grandsons, Dr. Darren (Sara) Low, Sydney River; Neil Terry, Lower Sackville, and Charlie Ashcroft, Dartmouth; great-granddaughter, Sally Woodward and great-grandson, Zevff Low; her brothers, Emerson, Sydney Forks; Douglas (Cicely), Oxford; Prescott (Mabel), Windsor; Nathan (Valerie), Hamilton, Ont., and Charles (Joan) Sharbot Lake, Ont.; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Sheldon Rogers and sister-in-law Margaret Rogers, Oxford; sister, Audrey (Roberts) (Akerman), Great Village; sister-in-law, Betty (Emerson) Rogers, Sydney Forks, and son-in-law, Tony Terry. Emily was a loving wife and mother, and a dedicated homemaker. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service to honour her life will be held in Fairview United Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Fairview United Church Memorial Fund, 3524 Dutch Village Rd., Halifax, NS B3N 2S1. Special thanks to the Red Cross Home Support Services, Victorian Order of Nurses and the doctors and nurses of QEII Health Sciences Centre. May she rest in peace.
