FLEMING, Elsie Vera September 19, 1924 - February 10, 2014 It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, nana and great-nana, Elsie Fleming, on February 10, 2014, surrounded by her family. Pre-deceased by her husband, Tom Fleming, and dear companion, Tom Finnerty. "Born in a pub" in London, England, mum served her country as a telephone operator during WWII. Coming to Canada in 1951, Elsie and family resided in Guelph for many years. She was very proud of her lengthy career at Homewood Sanitarium. After moving to Victoria, BC in 1994, she enjoyed travel, country dancing and darts at Monterey Centre. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Stephen, daughters, Susan, Bridget and Beth, sons-in-law, Bill and Keith, daughter-in-law, Rosanne. Also remembered by grandsons, Chris, Joel, Kyle and Taylor, great-grandsons, Joshua and Jordan, and brother, Derek and family members in England. Our sincere thanks to staff at Kiwanis Pavillion for their outstanding care and compassion, especially Maureen, Alma, Wayne and Robyn, and Dr. Dan Buie. As per her wishes, a gathering of family and friends will be held in Ontario at a later date.
