January 28, 2005 Elsie Margaret Matthews, 80, died at her home. A native of Minnesota, Elsie had been a resident of Syracuse for the past five years. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Havernick, her second husband, Chester Thorsten, and her third husband, Lew Matthews. Survived by her daughter, Dr. Nancy (Stephen Baron) Havernick; her granddaughters, Alexis and Miriam; and her brother, K. Rudy Braun. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital of CNY.
