Davis-Dawson, 92, of Manchester, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Mount Carmel Nursing Home.Mrs. Davis-Dawson was born June 22, 1917, in Auburn, the daughter of William and Lillian (Lillis) Davis. She grew up in Auburn and came to Manchester entering grade three at the former Ash Street School.For a while she had resided in Belmont, and Portland, Maine, before returning to Manchester where she had lived for 70 years.Her employment history included 27 years as a secretary for H.P. Hood Company, and until the age of 85, she had also been a self-employed caregiver to the elderly. She was a member of Bedford Community Church and the Rebekkah Lodge, Pansy 90, of Manchester. She enjoyed writing poetry, spending time with her grandchildren and was known for her remarkable memory.Mrs. Davis-Dawson's family includes her daughter, Judith G. Rouleau and her husband Louis of Bedford; three grandchildren, Michael Rouleau and his wife Kym, Greg Rouleau and his wife Cecilia and Mary DuBois and her husband Joseph; eight great-grandchildren, Jarrod, Carter, and Zachery Rouleau, Joseph and Emily DuBois and Elizabeth, Brett, and Olivia Rouleau; two nieces, Eleanor Mongovan and Caroline Kimball.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alden and William Davis; and one sister, Esther Joyal. Calling hours will be on Friday, June 11, from 4-7 p.m. at the Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Bedford Community Church, 56 Old Bedford Road. The Rev. Dr. David Midwood will officiate.
