WILLIAMS Ellen C. Williams, age 99, of Shelton, previously of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Bishop Wicke Health Care , Shelton. Born in Bridgeport she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edith Williams and was raised by her foster parents, Orme and Maude Faris . Ellen was a music supervisor for the Stratford Board of Education serving in the elementary schools for 44 years before her retirement. She was in the first class to graduate at the Junior College of Connecticut which later became the University of Bridgeport. She received her Master's degree from Teachers College at Columbia. Ellen was an organist at Stratford United Methodist Church from 1945 to 1951 the First Baptist Church from 1950 to 1956, the First Presbyterian Church from 1956 to 1969 at the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church from 1971 to 1974 and at the Stratford Baptist Church from 1976 to 1985. She was a member of the Bridgeport retired teacher's association, the Connecticut retired teacher's association, the American organist guild and was the oldest member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Survivors include a cousin Daniel Hampton of Vermont. Memorial services will take place on Saturday March 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Stratford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred O. Jackson and Rev. Frank Denton, officiating. Burial will be private in Center Cemetery, New Milford.
