Ella W. Peggy Southport Resident Age 86 of Bartholomew Road Pine City, NY went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, January 12, 2003 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born September 20, 1916 in Snedekerville, PA the daughter of the late Frank and Clara (Oldroyd) Wells. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James S. Smith; daughter, Evelyn West; son-in-law, James West; grandson, Paul West all of Millport, NY; daughter, Nancy Sheerer of Campbell, NY; son-in-law, Alfred J. MacMillian; grandson, Ernest James MacMillian of Webb Mills and Wellsburg, NY; brother, Raymond Wells of Savona, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Gorden VanHoughten of Breesport and Elmira, NY; sister-in-law, Loretta Wells of Big Flats, NY; brother and sister-in-law, William (Sara) Welch of Waverly, NY. Her survivors include: sons, Ernest (Beatrice) Smith, James (Bonnie) Smith; daughter, Rosemary (Lee) Zepp all of Pine City, NY; Doris MacMillian Knapp of Bentley Creek, PA; brothers James Wells, Kenneth (Phyllis) Wells all of Big Flats, NY; Franklyn (May) Wells of Lewis, NY; cousins Herb (Ruth) Wells of Troy, PA; Francis Wells of Mansfield, PA; Eleanor Oldroyd of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, son-in-law Siles Sheerer Jr.: along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Ella retired from Westinghouse in Horseheads, NY after several years of dedicated service. She was a hard working farmers wife who love to cook, sew, quilt and crochet. She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 from 1 - 3- and 6 - 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (8:00 PM) The Reverend Patrick Haley will officiate. Memorial Donations may be directed to the Webb Mills UMC 1623 Pennsylvania Ave. Pine City, NY 14871, Southern Tier Association for the Visually Impaired 719 Lake Street Elmira, NY 14901 or to a charity of one's choice.
