Obituary of Ella-Mae Nelson

UntitledELLA MAE "SUE" NELSON1923-2009Sue Nelson, 85, of Pensacola, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on Good Friday, April 10, 2009, surrounded by her daughters.Sue was a very Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, known as everyone's favorite sister, aunt and friend. She was exemplified in her hospitality-equaled by none. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and was always baking cakes and cookies for anyone with a need. She was known for providing smorgasbord spreads on a shoestring budget for friends and families, sometime on a moment's notice. If she visited anyone, she took a gift. If anyone visited her, they were given a gift. She loved everybody, showed that love to everybody and was loved by everyone. She was an extremely active member of Warrington United Methodist Church, where she raised her children. She had many after school Christian events for neighborhood children. She was most known for being a very Good Christian woman and for her BEAUTIFUL prayers. Her pastor calls her a Prayer Warrior. Always wanting to be a nurse, she completed two years of training, and quit one week shy of graduation to marry the dashing Eddie Nelson. She retired as a switchboard operator at Baptist Hospital and was a homemaker for many years. Her children truly rise up and call her Blessed. Sue was simply, truly a beautiful soul. Sue's husband, Edwin D. Nelson, her parents, Bud and Mamie Gates of Ferry Pass, Florida and her three sisters, Iona Quattrone, Virgie Roselli and Helen Morris preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory are her children; twin daughters, Jean and husband Tony Tarnock and Jane Thomas, all of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Betty and husband Michael Campbell of Arnold, Maryland; and son, Eddie (Ozzie) Nelson, Jr. and wife Jean Anna of San Diego, California. She was blessed with ten grandchildren; Jay, Eddie, Jeannie, Tony Jr., Daniel, Michael Jr., Maureen, Mary, Helen, and Elise; and eight great grandchildren; Eddie, Jeremy, Clayton Moses, Chloe, Duke, Nathan, Natalie, and Noel. She is also survived by her dear brothers and sisters; Sylvia Enfinger, Katie Bohanick, Dixie and husband Dan Welch, Bud and wife Priscilla Gates, Patsy and husband Ed Kuhar, Jean and husband Charlie Ayers, Faye and husband Jim Reuff and Ronnie and Loretta Gates.
