Ella Jewel Smith, 65, of Panama City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Bay Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith. She was born Feb. 2, 1944, to the late Zade Flowers and Lecie Dawkins Flowers in Headland, Ala. She came to Panama City in 1949. She attended Rosenwald Senior High School. She was a member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and dedicating her unconditional love to her friends and family. She was a very loving person and always was willing to help every-one she could. She was a devoted daughter, mother, sister, grand-mother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She will be dearly missed. A brother, Jerry Flowers, preceded her in death. She leaves pre-cious memories with her children's father, Pete Smith Sr.; four loving children, Pete Smith Jr. (Sally) of Panama City, Fla., Ella Green (Wil-lie), Jason Smith (Natasha) of Chipley, Fla., and Tomeka Smith (Ronterreal) of Panama City, Fla.; devoted and loving companion, Mr. Carl Chatman; four siblings, Robert Flowers (Janice), Mamie Heard (Herald), Elaine Griffin and Terry Flowers (Ann), all of Panama City, Fla.; devoted cousin, Venus Washington of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many sorrowing nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. A special thanks is extended to the staffs of Bay Medical Center and Covenant Hospice. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, March 20, 2009, at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 909 E. Eighth St., Panama City, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Youmas, pastor, and Elder D. Woods Jr. officiating.
