Born January 27,1917 in Anderson, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Duncan Marshall and Sara Rucker McIntyre, Sr. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Jennings, Sr. (Jim), her sister Mary McIntyre Hobson and her brother Duncan Marshall McIntyre, Jr. Elizabeth, better known as Lib, grew up in Anderson, S.C. where she received a Business Degree from Anderson College. She was a bookkeeper for Duke Power Co. in Anderson and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. Lib and Jim married on Feb. 18, 1950 and moved to Atlanta where they started their family and joined Druid Hills Presbyterian Church. Lib worked for a short time at Presbyterian Center in Atlanta, but most of her life, she was a homemaker who was dedicated to her family, church and friends. She volunteered both at church and school and was a member of the Clarion Class of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, served in many positions with the Women of the Church and was an Elder. In 1997, she was awarded an Honorary Life Membership by the Presbyterian Women. Lib enjoyed writing letters, playing bridge and being with family and friends. She loved her time at Clairmont Place and said her only regret was that she had not made the move sooner. Lib was described by her friends and family as a gracious southern lady who always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Elizabeth Harrison and husband Frank of Moultrie, Ga., Dr. James Edward Jennings, Jr. and wife Patty of Greenville, S.C., five grandchildren, Ben Harrison of Manhattan, Kansas, Beth Cannon and husband Chas of Washington, D.C., Brian Harrison and wife Berenice of Sacramento, California, Rebecca Jennings and Emily Jennings, two great grandchildren, Catherine Cannon and Allie Cannon. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 am in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons, 2773 N. Decatur Rd. with entombment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 prior to the service.
