Ella A. Smith, 91, died Sunday, February 2, 2003 in Riverview Nursing Home under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. The Columbia, LA native had lived in Savannah since 1958 and was a retired nurse having worked at Memorial Medical Center for 11 years and Georgia Regional Hospital for seven years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of the Islands. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Smith, Sr. and her sons, Huey W. Smith and Albert L. Smith, Jr. Survivors: three daughters, Leona S. Gray, Virginia M. Smith, and Lynda F. Matthys, all of Savannah; four sons, Marshall J. Smith of St. Marys, Bobby G. Smith of Clinton, NC, Glenn A Smith of Dallas, TX, and Lynn R. Smith of Savannah; sister, Hannah M. McCarter of Columbia, LA; 26 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives. Memorial Services: 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 3 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Reverend Timothy Gray officiating.
