PENN YAN - Elizabeth Muehe Williams, 90 years old, died peacefully on August 6, 2012, at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home in Penn Yan, N.Y.Friends and relatives are invited to join a celebration of life service, that will be held at Graveside in Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield, N.Y. on Saturday (September 1) at 11:00 a.m.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to honor Mrs. Williams' commitment to public libraries. Donations may be sent to either the Penfield Public Library, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield, NY 14523; or the Modeste Bedient Memorial Library, 3699 Route 54A, Branchport, NY 14418.Mrs. Williams was the daughter of Sara and Conrad Muehe, who was Superintendent of Schools in Stanley, N.Y. where she grew up. Mrs. Williams Graduated from Keuka College, earned a Master's Degree at Syracuse University, and taught Business Education at the High School level until meeting John D. Williams on a blind date. They married in 1949 and started a family.The family lived for many years in Penfield, N.Y. where Mrs. Williams volunteered in the community. She served on the Penfield Public Library Board of Trustees and was an active member of the Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church in Brighton, the League of Women Voters, the Republican Party Committee, the Rochester Museum, and the Alumni Association of Keuka College.Mrs. Williams enjoyed gardening, homemaking, traveling, playing bridge, spending time with her family, and enjoying summers at the family cottage on Keuka Lake in Branchport, N.Y.Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jameson and her husband Jim of Penn Yan, N.Y.; a son David C. Williams and his wife Sandy of Cortland Manor, N.Y.; a son Robert S. Williams and his wife Susan Tordella-Williams of Ayer, Mass.; nine grandchildren and a nephew, Marty Muehe of Canandaigua, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband John; son Douglas; and brother Robert Muehe.
