Van Patten, Elizabeth GUILDERLAND Elizabeth Margaret (Ivers) Van Patten, entered into eternal rest on Saturday morning, September 3, 2011. She was born April 30, 1923 in Brooklyn. Pre-deceased by her husband, Emerson "Van" Van Patten Jr. of Guilder-land. Elizabeth (Betty) is survived by her children, Linda Sornberger (Lee), Emerson J. Van Patten III (Tara), Jeffrey D. Van Patten (Jill), Jan L. Van Patten (Gail), Christopher A. Van Patten (Carlene) and Lisa Cay Clark (Patrick); grandchildren, Kelly, Kacey, Brandon, Kourtney, Korinne, Kyle, Carlie, Caitlin, Erin, Jack; and great-grandchildren, Owen, Aidan, Adrianna, Caden, Brooklynn; and a great-grandson due in December; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was the oldest daughter of Walter and Theresa (Rose) Ivers. Betty was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel Ivers and Walter Ivers Jr.; and is survived by her sisters, Theresa Ritter and Leslie DeCollibus; and sisters-in-law, Hannah Ivers and Phyllis Ivers. Betty was also predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Ruth (Van Patten) Lawlor and Olive Van Patten; and brother-in-law, Jack Lawlor. Betty and Van met while serving in the Army in San Fransciso Calif., during World War II. They were married May 15, 1946 in Reno Nevada and soon after settled into the family homestead in Guilderland, near Fullers. Betty was employed for many years by the Town of Guilderland Water Department. She was a communicant of St. Madeline Sophie Church in Guilderland for over 60 years. For many years Betty also enjoyed her role as an election inspector and looked forward to seeing her many friends and acquaintances on election day. Betty had many close friends and enjoyed taking trips to Florida, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and enjoyed spending time and celebrating special occasions with all. Friends may call on Monday, September 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont. A Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Madeline Sophie Church on Tuesday, September 6, at 10 a.m., an interment to follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland.
