Elizabeth Timmerman Gibson, 87, died April 19, 2001, in Nashville, Tenn. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 23, in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville. Born near Greenwood, she spent her childhood and her retirement years there. She was the daughter of Melvin L. and Rebecca Timmerman, both on the staff of Connie Maxwell Children's Home, where she and her brother, the late Eugene Timmerman, were raised there on the Connie Maxwell campus. She attended Lander University in Greenwood and became a teacher of music and an author of Baptist Church literature. For many years, she served on the faculties of summer conferences of the Southern Baptist Church, conducting developmental workshops for people across the country who worked with children in their churches. Mrs. Gibson was the widow of Harvey T. Gibson, a native of the Greenville area.
