Elizabeth Shea, born in 1928, daughter of Thomas and Catherine, died on December 9, 1928 at 78 years old.
FITCHBURG -- Elizabeth A. “Betty” Shea, 78, formerly of Ronald Street, died Saturday, Jan. 6, in the Highlands after a long illness. She was born in Fitchburg on Dec. 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Buckley) Shea and had lived there all of her life. She graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1946 and went to work in the accounting department at the former Fitchburg Paper Company in 1956. She retired from the former Technographics Company in Fitchburg in 1990 after 34 years. Miss Shea was a member of St. Camillus de Lellis Parish and did volunteer work for the parish and bishop’s fund for many years. She enjoyed sewing, needlework and baking. She cherished her home and her family. She leaves three sisters, Eleanor T. Cleary and her husband, James, Joan C. Shea and Mary U. Murchie and her husband, Robert, all of Fitchburg; 10 nieces and nephews, Margaret Greenwood of Gardner, Noreen Cleary of Grayslake, Ill., Katherine Cannon, Thomas Cleary, Eileen McGrady and Kevin Cleary, all of Fitchburg, Robert Murchie of Hopkinton, Brian Murchie of Westminster, Barry Murchie of Fitchburg and Mary Beth Jokela of Leominster. She also leaves many cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews. SHEA -- The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Monday, Jan. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sister of the Presentation Retirement Fund, 99 Church St., Leominster, MA 01453, or may be left at the funeral home.
