Elizabeth-Sarah-Pratt Goodwin, born in 1907, spouse of Arthur-George Goodwin, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth-Collier, mother of Charles, Barbara, Endicott and Drs, died on March 31, 2001 at 93 years old.
ELIZABETH SARAH PRATT GOODWINformerly of EndwellElizabeth Goodwin, 93, formerly of Endwell, passed away March 31, 2001 at Fairview Good Shepherd Home. The family is greatly saddened by their loss, but celebrates her life, which was filled with the love and devotion from everyone who knew her. Elizabeth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Barbara Goodwin, Endicott; her daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Susan and William Gerberich, Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, Chad Goodwin and Dr. Erin Rodgers, Dr. Bradley and Amanda Gerberich, Brian Gerberich, Beth Gerberich, Mark and Bobbie Jo Creamer; great-grandchildren, Sofia Jane Gerberich, Alex Andria Creamer, Caroline Logue Goodwin and many nieces, a nephew and wonderful friends. Elizabeth Sarah Pratt Goodwin was born July 10, 1907 at Brake Hill, Homer, N.Y., the daughter of Charles Franklin and Elizabeth Collier Pratt. She was the widow of Arthur George Goodwin, who died October 25, 1973. She was a graduate of Homer Academy and Cortland Business Institute. She was employed as a secretary at Brockway Motor Company of Cortland, N.Y. (10 yrs), and at the Chemung and at the Chemung County Cooperative Extension Service (12 yrs) before her retirement in 1971. Mrs. Goodwin lived for more than 50 years in Baltimore, Town of Preble, New York, moving with her husband to Elmira in 1959. They lived there 12 years where Mr. Goodwin was director of Buildings and Grounds for the Elmira City School System. Following his retirement in 1971 they moved to Tavares, Florida during the winter months. Mrs. Goodwin lived there until 1986, when she moved to Endwell. Summers were spent at Goodale Lake, Town of Preble. Elizabeth was a member of the Little York Garden Club, Central United Methodist Church, The CUMC Grace Circle, The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Cortland County Historical Society. Everyone remembers Elizabeth as an excellent conversationalist, who also had a passion for genealogy, reading and gardening. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, between 7 and 8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2001. A brief service will follow at 8:30 p.m., officiating by the Reverend Kenneth Wood of the Central United Methodist Church, Endicott. Beginning at 2 p.m. a memorial service followed by a reception will he held on Saturday, April 7, 2001 at the Preble Congregationalist Church, Preble Road, Preble, N.Y. conducted by the Reverend Linda Gard. Friends and family are welcome. Our heartfelt thanks go to the kind, thoughtful and professional people at Fairview Good Shepherd Home and with the Lourdes Hospice Program.
