<!-- FH = 88 --><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Peters, Elizabeth Rachelle Stark,88, was born January 13, 1926 to the union of the late Hugh and Cora Elizabeth Stark in Allen County Kentucky. Elizabeth was the youngest of 10 children. Shortly after her birth, their mother passed resulting in older sister Amanda assuming maternal responsibilities for the younger sisters and brothers.Elizabeth received her early education in the Allen and Warren County school systems. Later she moved to Louisville, Kentucky with her sisters Amanda and Christine. It was during this period, Elizabeth confessed a hope and faith in JESUS Christ and was baptized at Greater Salem Baptist Church. They all attended and graduated from Central Colored High School. She was a member of the Class of 1943 and 1944. Having placed a high premium on education, the siblings agreed one of them should attend college. It was decided Elizabeth would attend Municipal College in Louisville and the siblings provided financial support to supplement received scholarships. While attending Municipal, Elizabeth majored in Economics and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. After graduating with honors, Elizabeth moved to Chicago, Illinois where she lived most of her adult life. Upon moving to Chicago, she met and subsequently married Christopher Peters on November 16, 1952. Though their union was dissolved after a brief period of time, and did not produce any children, Elizabeth kept her married name and served as a surrogate mother to her nieces and nephews. Hired by Illinois Bell Telephone Company, she served in managerial capacities until she retired.Elizabeth returned to her home state of Kentucky in 1996 to be with family. She united with 1st Baptist Church of Jeffersontown. Affectionately called "Aunt Liz" by friends and family, she was known for her wit, charm, and class. She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Christeen Lightsy; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Community Missionary Baptist Church, 4909 East Indian Trail, Louisville. Visitation will be held same day at 11 a.m. followed by Sorority Memorials Service at 11:30 a.m., followed by Home-going Services. Interment immediately following at Louisville Memorial Cemetery, Popular Level Road and Eastern Parkway. Mason Brothers Audubon Chapel of Henderson, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
