Obituary of Elizabeth Phillips


GALLIPOLIS, Ohio Elizabeth Molineaux Phillips, 90, of Gallipolis, passed away Friday, April 30, 2004, at Scenic Hills Nursing Center. She was born January 26, 1914, in Tiffin, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Evelyn Fingerhuth Molineaux. Mrs. Phillips retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center in 1980, where she had served as the director of medical records. In addition, she had held the position of medical records consultant for the Houston Nursing Home, Hamden, Ohio. Her memberships included charter member of the Gallipolis Garden Club, The Pembroke Club, The Killcare Bridge Club, Docent of The French Art Colony, and Grace United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Grace Guild and the Abigail Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband Gomer W. Phillips, July 29, 1975; by a son, James Molineaux, 1946; and by a brother, William Molineaux Jr., 1968. Surviving are three daughters, Ann Polichene, Ravenna, Ohio, The Honorable Susan (Howard) Read, West Sand Lake, N.Y., Mary Phillips, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; three grandchildren, Briget (Charles) Chamness, Indianapolis, Ind., Joel (Karen) Polichene, Mt. Airy, Md., Beth (Paul) Rabatin, Fredricksburg, Va.; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Molineaux, Maumee, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2004, in Grace United Methodist Church Chapel, with Rev. Bob Ingram officiating. Interment will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, Gallipolis. Friends may call at the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, 420 First Ave., Gallipolis, on Sunday, 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to: Samuel Bossard Library, 7 Spruce St., Gallipolis, OH 45631 or The Nunzio Polichene Scholarship Fund, 246 South Chestnut St., Ravenna, OH 44266.
