Elizabeth "Liz" Morrison, 74, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 25, 1938 in Dorena, Ky., to the late Jerome and Ethel Ona Wilson Roy. She moved to Winchester in 1953 and married the love of her life, Odell Morrison September 1, 1956. Liz retired from Anchor Glass Container in 2000 after 44 years as a quality control inspector. She received her GED in 1995. She received the honor of Sagamore of Wabash, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the governor of Indiana, from the late Frank O'Bannon. She also received the key to the City of Winchester - presented by former mayor Jack Fowler. She was past president of GMP, Local 203 and also served as the financial secretary. She served as president of East Central Indiana Labor Council; president of Indiana Michigan Glass protective league; and was the founding president for three years of the Randolph County United Way. Liz also served as a senior Regent for Women of the Moose. Before her illness, she enjoyed being a part of the Red Hat Society, working in her flowers, gardening and spending time with her family.Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Odell Morrison of Winchester; a son, Jerry (Brenda) Morrison of Winchester; two daughters, Sherry Smith of Richmond and Tracy (Jimmy) Carpenter of Winchester; a sister, Naomi Wells of Somerset, Ky.; a stepsister, Shirley Chumley of Russell Springs, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Brock Morrison of Zionsville, Jill Morrison of Winchester, Jonathan Smith of West Chester, Ohio, Jackson Smith of Richmond, David Sells of Indianapolis, Shay (Heather) Sells of Huntsville and Katie Carpenter of Winchester; two great grandchildren, Heath Sells and Isabella Sarver; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vertis Wells; three sisters, Verda Wilson, Ina Harris and Retha Wilson; two stepbrothers, Elmer Roy and Elva Roy; and one stepsister, Dolly Wilson. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, Winchester, with Brother Bill Carpenter officiating, her brother-in-law. Burial will follow at Fountain Park Cemetery, Winchester.Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
