Obituary of Elizabeth Miller


MILLER _ Elizabeth "Betty" Margaret (nee Johnston) 1938 - 2007 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Miller. Betty passed away peacefully Thursday, March 15 in Sydney, NS after a five-year battle with cancer. She was a beautiful, strong person with a courageous soul who will be dearly missed by her friends and her family. Betty was born in Sydney, NS on October 31, 1938. In the late 1950's she moved to Calgary with her husband Les where she spent many happy years with her family and friends in Calgary. She worked in admitting at the Holy Cross Hospital until it closed and then transferred to the Rockyview Hospital where she worked in admitting and the eye clinic. Six years ago she retired. Last year she decided to return to her home town of Sydney to live out the last days of her life. Betty leaves behind her daughter Joanne and son-in-law Robert Birce of Calgary/Puerto Morelos. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Miller of Calgary. She also leaves behind a large number of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 21, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at T W CURRY PARKVIEW CHAPEL in Sydney. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel Church in Sydney. A Memorial Service and tea will be held for Betty at St. Gerard's Church in Calgary in June. Details to follow in this paper. Donations may be made to National Ovarian Cancer Association.
