Elizabeth Mary Bannon Linehan, 95, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2014. Elizabeth was born August 23, 1919 in Syracuse, NY. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved family get-togethers - she always said "It's not where you are but who you are with." She had a special bond with her lifelong "club girls" with whom she shared the love of their Irish Heritage, traveling and playing a good game of cards. She will always be our Queen of Hearts. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, WWII Veteran/Syracuse Police Officer, Ambrose J.; oldest son, Martin; grandchildren, Bernard Andrews, Matthew Linehan and Brian Romano. She was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary and later, St. Ann's/St. Charles. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Colleen Woodward (Richard) of Onondaga Hill, Timothy Linehan (Patricia) of Camillus, Maureen Romano (Richard) of Venice, FL, Michael Linehan (Denice) of Camillus, Patrick Linehan (Cariann) of Baldwinsville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and Bannon/Hickey/Linehan nephews and nieces. Calling hours will be Thursday, September 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Edward Ryan & Son Funeral Home. Services will be on Friday, September 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church on Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse, NY. Burial will be at the Veteran's Cemetery, Howlett Hill Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Martin A. Linehan Scholarship established at Onondaga Community College Foundation Scholarships, 4585 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215.
