Obituary of Elizabeth-Mae-Nickel Davis


Elizabeth Mae Nickel Davisformerly of AftonElizabeth Mae Nickel Davis passed away at the Hoosick Falls Health Center on Saturday, January 6th. She was born in Galway, New York on August 27, 1915. She married Robert William Davis of Ballston Spa in 1932, and was his wife for 64 years. As the wife of a dairy farmer, she worked side by side with her husband and raised their four children. She came to the Hoosick Falls Health Center six years ago to be with her daughter, Joyce Davis, and quickly earned the love of the residents and staff of the Health Center. She loved to write poetry, and reading and movies were her passion. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert William Davis; and daughter, Mary Lou Elizabeth Davis. She is survived by her three remaining children, Robert Carl Davis and his wife, Geri, Nelliston, New York, Keith Dale Davis and his wife, Karen, Afton, New York, and Joyce Nadine Davis, Hoosick Falls, New York; her sisters, Pearl Cartwright, Reno, Nevada, Beulah Sless, Oppenheim, New York; and her brother, Ronald Nickel and his wife, Ruth, Midland Park, New Jersey; her brother-in-law, Harry Davis and his wife, Shirley, Ballston Spa, New York; her sisters-in-law, Betty Waterhouse, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Julia and her husband, Andy Palmatier, Scotia, New York. She is survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and she lived to meet Aiden Spina, her fifth generation great-great-grandson.Memorial gifts may be made to the Hoosick Falls Health Center Foundation, P.O. Box 100, Hoosick Falls, New York 12090. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at the Sweetman Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to the home of Harry and Shirley Davis after the services.
