"Betty" (O'Hare) Allard, 75, a longtime Dracut resident who worked more than five decades in Greater Lowell as a registered nurse, died yesterday, Dec. 14, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. She was the wife of Raymond W. Allard, who died in 1996. She was born in Lowell on Nov. 13, 1930, a daughter of the late Francis and Audrey F. (Miller) O'Hare. She received her education in the Lowell school system, and graduated from Lowell High School. She also graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Lowell in 1952, where she was a member of the school's Nurses Alumni Association. Mrs. Allard enjoyed a 52-year career in nursing, starting at the Bedford veterans hospital. She then practiced as a private duty nurse in Lowell hospitals. In 2004, she retired after 18 years of service at the Heritage Nursing Care Center. She was remembered by family and friends as a caring and compassionate person who loved her patients and her nursing career. She enjoyed shopping, her TV "soaps", spending time with family and vacationing at Lake Winnipesaukee. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Mary Gale and Andrew Durning, Karen M. Allard, James Allard, and John Allard; a sister, Kathleen O'Hare-DeOlden and her husband, John DeOlden; a sister-in-law, Gloria Cudnik; a daughter-in-law, Martha Allard; a close family friend, Debra Smith; a cousin, Patricia LaFlamme; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Allard was the devoted "Meme" to five grandchildren, Stephanie Durning, Travis Durning, Marisa Allard, James Allard and Austin Allard.
