Elizabeth Lucille Mercer Adams Elizabeth Lucille Mercer Adams: Born March 14, 1917 in Elliott, Iowa, daughter of Lucy and Frank Mercer; died January 2, 2010 in Tallahassee, Florida. There will be Gathering of family and friends at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home (850-877-8191), 1737 Riggins Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308 on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 6pm - 8pm EST. The Memorial Service will be at Heritage Oaks, 4501 Shannon Lakes Drive West, Tallahassee, FL 32309 in the Chapel on the Second Floor on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11 am. Interment service will be held Monday, January 11, 2010 at 11 am, Fort Benning National Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam Henry Adams, Lt. Colonel (Retired), U. S. Army; her sister, Agnes Pedersen; and son-in-love, Frederick J Lambert.She is survived by her son, Sam Henry Adams, Jr.; daughter-in-love Norma Smith Adams; daughter Mary Adams Lambert; grandson John Adams Lambert; grandson Dale Frederick Lambert;granddaughter Jennifer Grace Adams;and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Marjorie Axthelm; nieces, Nancy Pedersen, Sharon Tadsen, and Jane Mrkich; nephews, Terry Pedersen, Steve Axthelm and Paul Axthelm, and their children and grandchildren.Elizabeth was a member of Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Tallahassee, FL and Saint Luke United Methodist Church in Columbus, GA. Elizabeth was an active member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the National Society Colonial Dames of the XVII Century. She was a past member of the National Society of New England Women, and the National Society Daughters of the Founders and Patriots of America.An avid genealogist, she was instrumental in creating the Genealogical Library in Columbus, GA. As a teacher, she taught first and second grade for many years at South Columbus Elementary School in Columbus, Georgia. Elizabeth resided at Heritage Oaks, 4501 Shannon Lakes Drive West, Tallahassee, FL since February 2008.She previously lived in Atlanta, GA, Columbus, GA, and various Army bases around the world. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Warm Hearts Helping Hands Fund in care of Gray Memorial United Methodist Church, 2201 Old Bainbridge Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303.
