Elizabeth Lisa Dempsey of Convent Station, N.J., passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the age of 80. A memorial service is at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Assumption Church, Morristown, N.J. Lisa graduated from Smith College in 1953, summa cum laude. In 1957, she married James Birch Dempsey of Toledo, Ohio. After raising her children, Lisa received an M.S. in computer graphics from Arizona State University. She enjoyed a successful career in that field until her retirement in 2002. Lisa was an active member of the Morristown Home Garden Club and the Smith Club. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Lisa was predeceased by her husband, and is survived by her children, Margaret Christiansen, husband, Phillip; Morgan Dempsey; Peter Dempsey, wife, Kathleen, and their children, Mark and Claire. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lisa to the Frelinghuysen Arboretum.
