CONCORD - Elizabeth Pearson Nock Ingraham died Nov. 20, 2009, of natural causes after a fall. She was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Newburyport, Mass., to Herbert K. and Elizabeth P. Nock. She spent her earliest years in that city and moved later to Schenectady N.Y., where her father worked during the Depression at General Electric, before returning the family to their roots in Massachusetts. She attended the University of New Hampshire in 1941, but transferred to Simmons College in Boston after war was declared. She graduated in 1945 from Simmons' Prince School of Retailing, and on her 22nd birthday celebrated VJ day. In 1949 she married Robert C. Ingraham, also formerly of Schenectady. They built a life together principally in Topsfield, Mass., Bedford and Meredith. She worked for many years as a school librarian, and was a passionate reader and advocate for public education. The family includes a daughter, Robin Farabaugh of Baltimore; and a son, Peter Ingraham of Amherst. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1996. IN HER LIFE: Once retired, she volunteered at the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen in Meredith, the Meredith Public Library, and Lakes Region General Hospital. Together she and her husband enjoyed everything from Red Sox games and jazz concerts in their early marriage, to life by Lake Wicwas in Meredith, and in later years, visiting their grandchildren. She is survived by five grandchildren, Miranda, Susannah and Samuel Farabaugh, and Robert and Stewart Ingraham. SERVICES: A private burial will be held in the spring. The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of arrangements.
