Obituary of Elizabeth-Hoff Todd


Elizabeth Hoff Todd of Dyersburg died Saturday November 18 2006 at her residence. She was born July 31 1927 in Memphis to Elizabeth Dubose Hoff and Einar B. Hoff. She is survived by her husband of 57 years Hugh M. "Jack" Todd; three children Elizabeth "Bet" Todd and husband William Wilcox of Dallas Texas Kathleen Rose and husband Phillip Rose of Tucson Arizona and Hugh Todd III and wife Melanie Weaver Todd of Dyersburg; two brothers Einar B. Hoff Jr. and wife Dody Hoff of Ketchum Idaho and John Hoff and wife Martha Hoff of Dyersburg. She leaves five grandchildren Clay Condon of Doha Qatar Amanda Condon of Tucson William Wilcox and Ellen Wilcox of Dallas and Hunter Todd of Dyersburg. Todd was Valedictorian of the Dyersburg High School Class of 1945 and a graduate of Duke University. She was a devout member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church and the Sellers Sunday school class. She helped establish the Acts 29 class and taught it for 17 years. She started the Body and Soul exercise and Bible study class for women and taught many Disciple Bible Studies. Todd was a member circle leader and president of the United Methodist Women. She was chairman of the Administrative Board and represented the church at the Annual Conference. For several years she was president of the Dyersburg Union Mission during which time the Mission Youth center was organized. She was a board member from 1985 to the present and volunteered many summers at the New Life Youth Camp. Starting as a Brownie girl Scout leader in 1959 she was Council president from 1979 to 1985 and a Board member until the present time. She served as Dyer County CountyHalls Association chairman and was a delegate to the national Girl Scout Convention. In 1992 she was chosen "Reelfoot Council Woman of the Year." Todd was on the Dyersburg Housing Authority Board from 1987-1998. She was active on the Planning Committee and a Board member to the present for Canterbury Place. She was on the Lambuth College Board of Trustees and a member of the Executive Committee from 1987-1999. The Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce named her "Outstanding Woman of the Year" for 1992. She was a long time member of the Thursday Bridge Club and Random Readers Book Club. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday November 19 at the First United Church Fellowship Hall. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday November 20 in the sanctuary of the church. Pallbearers will be Steve Carmichael Jim Ewell Errol Hook Hubert Jones Jere Ozment and John Reaves. The family requests that memorials be sent to First United Methodist Church for the Pastor's Discretionary Fund P.O.
