Obituary of Elizabeth Henderson


Elizabeth R. Henderson of 303 Harpswell Place, passed away at Greenville Memorial Medical Center on Monday, June 8, 2009. She was born August 3, 1911, and was the eldest child of William and Lethia Riddle.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, J. Larry Henderson. Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Clemson, Wofford, Furman, William and Don Riddle and three sisters, Margaret Runyon, Grace Duke and Lucille Riddle.For the past several years, she made her home with her niece, Nikki Robertson and her husband, Dick.She is also survived by a sister, Joyce R. Kay; two brothers, Leonard and Harvard Riddle all of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.She leaves behind two very special, and dear friends of many years, Mrs. Jean Perry and Mrs. Alma Williams.Special thanks is extended to Dr. Daryl Lapeyrolerie and Dr. William Logan, Jr. for many years of kindness and care. Also, special thanks to the staffs of Interim Home Healthcare and Interim Home Hospice Care as well as the staff of Laurel Baye Rehabilitation Healthcare.For many years, Mrs. Henderson enjoyed working in downtown Greenville at Rey's Jewelers helping many young men choose rings for their brides to be. One such young man was Nolan Ryan who went on to become a major league baseball Hall of Famer. She proudly worked for Mr. Charles Reyner and Mr. Charles Reyner, Jr. until she retired twenty-five years ago.Even though the physical body had weakened, her mind remained clear and active. Her faith never wavered and she looked forward to the day when she could go home to be with the Lord.Her celebration of life, love of family and salvation through Jesus Christ will be preached by a life long friend, the Reverend John Crawford. A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest with the love of her life, her husband, Larry. Visitors will be received by family after the service.Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
