Elizabeth H. Jones November 24, 2011 Elizabeth H. Jones, 92, of E. Pleasant St., Hamilton, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011, at Community Memorial Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility in Hamilton. She was born in Paisley, Scotland, on July 26, 1919, a daughter of the late William and Janet (Rennie) Hughes. She was a graduate of Oneonta High School, Oneonta Normal School and did studies at Cortland College and Syracuse University. On June 28, 1941, Elizabeth was married to Emerson D. Jones in Oneonta. Mr. Jones predeceased her on December 21, 2007. Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton. She was a former member of the Seven Oaks Golf Club, the 50 Club and Community Memorial Hospital Aux. and enjoyed playing bridge. She was active in the community and the Republican Party. Mrs. Jones taught at Hamilton Central School from 1960 until her retirement in 1977. She will always be remembered as everyone's second-grade teacher. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving are her sons and a daughter-in- law, Robert E. Jones of Staten Island, Richard A. and Nancy Jones of Springfield, VA, and Thomas E. Jones of Hamilton; a sister, Janet Stanton of Oneonta; a sister- in-law, Peggy Hughes of Oneonta; her grandchildren, Sarah and Jon Monteux, and Katie and David Jones; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece, Rennie Brown of Oneonta. She was predeceased by a brother, William Hughes Jr., and a sister, Jean Salada. In keeping with Mrs. Jones wishes, all services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Morrisville Cemetery, Morrisville. Contributions in Mrs. Jones' memory may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 73, Hamilton, NY 13346 or your local Salvation Army.
