CARTER, Elizabeth Cameron (Lightfoot)April 8, 1920 January 18, 2011 Betty passed away peacefully with family at her side after a short illness at Langley Memorial Hospital. Born Elizabeth Cameron Brown in Regina and raised in Portage la Prairie, she married Lieut. James Dingwall Lightfoot, of the Winnipeg Light Infantry in 1941. Betty had been a lower mainland resident since 1944, living and very much involved in the communities of Burnaby, the North Shore, and Langley. After the death of Jim in 1981, Betty eloped with Frederick Horace Carter of West Vancouver in 1991. Betty was predeceased by her husband Fred in 2006, sister Margaret Mowatt in 2004, daughter Margaret Patricia Pat Schulz (Frank) in 1995, and son James Dingwall Jim (Shirley) in 2001. She is survived by daughter Judith Elizabeth Sigler (George) of Florida, son John MacKinnon Lightfoot (Carole) of South Surrey, grandchildren - Jacqueline, Amanda, Brandy, Robert, Sabrina, Gregory, Heather, Iain, and great-grandchild Bradley. Family and friends were the focus of her life, and everyone was always warmly welcomed in her home. The definition of a true lady, Betty will always be alive in our hearts with fond memories of family and friends.Thank you mother for all the great memories. Services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011, 2:00pm, at Langley United Church, 5673 200th Street, Langley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Children's Hospital Foundation.
