Obituary of Elizabeth Carpenter


WATERFORD, NY -- Elizabeth Betty Brisson, 83, of Valley View Ave., died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Samaritan Hospital. Born and educated in Troy she was the daughter of the late Russell and Bessie Reynolds Carpenter. In her earlier years, Betty was employed at the Swanknit Co. in Cohoes and retired in 1959. She met her husband Raymond L. Brisson, who survives, in 1941. After World War II in February of 1946, they were both employed at the Mohawk Paper Mill and married two months later in April of 1946. Since that time, Ray has remarked to her daily that she was as beautiful as the day they met. Betty was an avid golfer and loved to sew. She made many of her own clothes. In addition to her husband, she is survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Waterford Rescue Squad in care of the funeral home office. Betty's family extends special thanks to the Hospice Nurses at Samaritan Hospital. Published in the Albany Times Union on 6/25/2005.
