WINNSBORO, Texas - Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Short, 77, of Winnsboro, formerly of Richburg, N.Y., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday (May 20, 2012). She was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Hornell to Gordon and Jessie Parker Wereley. She married Mr. Carlyle Short on Aug. 18, 1950. She was a homemaker, a Catholic, and a wonderful mother and grandmother.She is survived by her mother, Jessie Wereley of Friendship; her brother, Bud Werel of Friendship; their five children, Linda (Johnny) McCoy of Winnsboro, Butch (Caren) Short of Winnsboro, Betty Jean (Jim) Geffers of Leesburg, Barbara (Jon) Shirley of Winnsboro and Robert (Kelly) Short of Winnsboro; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Short Dersham of Fayetteville, N.C. She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Wereley; and her loving husband of 61 years, Carlyle Short.A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Pineview Baptist Church with Brother Perry Shirley officiating. Interment was in Pineview Cemetery, Wood County.
