Elizabeth-Ann Walker, born in 1926, spouse of Homer-Edward Walker, daughter of Charley and Mary, mother of Angela K, Prescott, Omaha, Nebr and Daniel D, died. Please consult the obituary here:
Elizabeth Ann (Burks) Walker was born in Fordland, Mo., to Charley and Mary Catherine (Barnard) Burks on August 6, 1926. Beth passed to her great reward on June 24, 2007. As a believer in Jesus Christ, her family rejoices in the assurance of life everlasting. Beth had Charles Robert Gray who was adopted by her second husband, Homer Edward Walker, Jr., while stationed in the U.S. Navy in Coco Solo, Panama. He and Beth had Mary Catherine Walker in 1956 while in Panama, and Mary predeceased Beth in 2002 in Phoenix, Ariz. Charles R. "Chuck" Walker, his wife Nancy L. Walker and their children, Angela K. Walker, Prescott, Arizona, and Daniel D. Walker (Megan A. King), Omaha, Nebr., survive her. Beth is also survived by her brother and friend Dale Burks and her special niece Kathy Keller. Beth had many careers in her life, teacher, social worker, occupational therapist, but the last 40 years were spent in health care and home health. Beth retired from St. John's Health Systems as director for Home Health. She completed two trips with the Citizen Ambassador program to the former Soviet Union where she consulted with hospital administrators about home health care opportunities for their countries. Beth was not ready for retirement so she went to several hospitals to provide home health best practices in Columbia, Mo., Massillon, Ohio, Hastings, Nebr., and finally to her favorite hometown, Springfield, Mo. She assisted a new and very successful home health agency called Integrity Home Care. This organizations was responsible for the final years of her care and she dearly loved all her helpers, including Hella, Marcia, Vicky and many more. A special thanks goes to Regional Hospice. Beth never knew a stranger and was very giving, loving and had many friends. Memorial services will be held in Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1551 E. Portland (intersection of Portland and Delaware), today at 10 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Beth asks for a gift be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1551 E. Portland, Springfield, MO 65804.
