Elizabeth A. Miller of Owego Elizabeth A. Miller, age 96, passed away on April 22, 2009 at her home in Owego, NY in the loving arms of her children. She was born on April 12, 1913 in New York City. In 1914, she traveled to Hungary with her mother and father to visit relatives. Due to WWI they could not return to the U.S. because her parents had not yet become citizens. In 1920, aboard the ship Rochambeau, they entered the U.S. through Ellis Island. Elizabeth graduated from high school and began work in a nail polish factory. At the age of 23, she married Albert (Tex) Miller in Cobleskill, NY, after a three-month courtship, and resided in New York State and Florida. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1968. She is survived by her children&#58; Rebecca M. Myers (husband, Gary) of Owego, June Hartman (husband, David) of O'Brien, FL, Marie LeVern of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Raymond Miller (wife, Debbie) of Shreve, Ohio; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, August H. Roth (wife, Betty) of Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, gardening, reading, traveling, and being with her family. She was a kind, loving, gracious lady and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango St., Greene, NY. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Root Funeral Home with interment immediately following at Sylvan Lawn Cemetery in Greene.
