Obituary of Elijah-Thomas Jr


Mr. Elijah Thomas Jr.(Uncle Buck) of 1560 W. 15th St. departed his life on this earth on August 24, 2001. Born in Americus, GA. to the late Elijah and Annie Pearl Tillie Thomas on April 4, 1923. Mr. Thomas was a Longshoreman for 40 years before retiring in 1989 with Local 1408. He was a faithful member of the Greater Macedonia Baptist Church Dr. Land on L. Williams, Sr. pastor. He also served on Usher Board No. 1. He leaves to mourn his passing a devoted wife of 48 years, Martha M. Thomas; three daughters, Flossie Bell, Eunice Fleming, Parthenia Thomas Corner(Prestine); one son, Elijah Thomas III; three sisters, Hattie Smith, Annie Julia Everett, Shirley Ann Givens; one brother, George Thomas(Mildred); devoted friends, Mr. Jimmie Ponder and Mr. Odell Maree. Funeral services will be held Saturday at his church at 12:00p.m. The cortege will assemble at 1560 W. 15th St. at 11:15a.m. His remains will rest for visitation of friends on Friday from 5:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. and in the church from 9:00a.m. until the hour of service.
