GROTON -- Electa Mae (Gotham) Williams, 72, a longtime Groton resident who was also active at a Tyngsboro church, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Highlands Nursing Home in Fitchburg. She was the wife of James F. Williams, to whom she was married for 53 years. She was born in Whitehall, N.Y., on Oct. 11, 1932, daughter of the late Jonathon E. Theodora E. (Hall) Gotham. She spent her early life in Tyngsboro, where she attended school. She also attended the Hairdressing Academy in Lowell. Following her marriage, she and Mr. Williams moved to Groton. Mrs. Williams was a past member of the Groton-Devens Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post #6877, and the past president of District 15. She was also a longtime member of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Tyngsboro. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, James F. Williams and his wife Cheryl of Groton; a daughter, Cindy Moseley and her husband Simon of Townsend; four grandchildren, Justin and Nicholas Williams and Jennifer and Ryan Moseley. She was also the mother of the late Roxanne Williams.
