Memorial service for Eleanor Sara Leek Smith, 92, North McDonald Avenue, DeLand, who died Fri., Aug. 31, 2007, at Alliance Center for Health Care in DeLand, will be 12 noon Sat., Sept. 15, at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand with Pastor Thom White officiating. Mrs. Smith was born July 29, 1915, in Rochester, N.Y., and moved to DeLand in 1946 from Hattiesburg, Miss. She retired from Stetson University in 1981 where she taught cello and music theory. She loved music and was co-founder of DeLand Little Symphony. She was a member of Daytona Beach Symphony Society, DeLand Museum Guild, American Pen Women and Friends of Stetson University Music School. Survivors include her son, Stephen E. Smith, DeLand; sister, Roberta Leek, Rochester; granddaughter, Kimberli Smith; nephew, Robert Fass; and niece, Laura Fass. Memorial donations suggested to Stetson University School of Music, c/o Development Operations, Unit 8286, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand, FL 32723. Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand, is in charge of arrangements.
