November 28, 2012 Eleanor M. Shuman, 70, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully, November 28, 2012. Mrs. Eleanor Straub Shuman was born October 17, 1942 to Anthony and Mary (Kitt) Straub of Lyncourt, NY. She attended Assumption High School and graduated Salutatorian of her class. Eleanor worked for Strathmore Paint and ENABLE of Syracuse. In 1990, she graduated from Onondaga Community College with an associate's degree in accounting. Eleanor enjoyed theater, shopping, and spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren, Bethany and Collin (Karl). She was an avid reader and enjoyed webinars of all kinds. She is survived by her children, David T. (Amy) Shuman of Clay, and Sarah M. (James) Karl of Sidney; her two grandchildren, Bethany and Collin Karl of Sidney; her sister, Antoinette (John) Wake; sister-in-law, Phyllis Straub; beloved brother, Luke (Sharon) Straub, brother, Matthew Straub, brother, Peter (Pauline) Straub, beloved sister-in-law Carol Shuman, and beloved sister-in-law Josephine (Mike) Caiella; several nieces and nephews she adored; and cherished friend, Linda Veilie. Eleanor was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas R. Shuman who passed away June 4, 1999; and her brother, George Straub. Calling hours will be TODAY, November 30, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St., Syracuse NY 13224. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Rd., Fayetteville. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
