JOHNSON, Eleanor Riggs, passed away March 14, 2006. She was born Friday, December 13, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the only child of Oliver and Elizabeth Leona Bastain Riggs. She attended St. Raphels grammar school through the eighth grade. Then she attended Dormont High School in Dormont, Pa., and graduated from Swickley High School in Swickley, Pa., in June 1947. During her working life, Eleanor worked for North American Assurance Co. and Seaboard Coast Line Railroad in Richmond, Va. She was transferred from Richmond. Va., to Jacksonville, Fla., where she met her husband, Tesla Francis Johnson. Tesla Francis and Eleanor were married October 17, 1975. She retired from Seaboard Coast Line Railroad in January 1978 after over 14 years of service. Eleanor loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was very active in her church work, being a charter member of two Baptist churches. One church was in Jacksonville, Fla., and the other in Orlando, Fla. When they moved to Land O' Lakes, Fla., she was a member of and actively supported First Baptist Church of Wesley Chapel. When they moved to Grand Island, Fla., she moved her membership and supported the work at Bay Street Baptist in Eustis, Fla., of which she was a current member. Eleanor's big smile and bright eyes earned her the nickname of Sunshine, which she liked very much. Now heaven is a better place because Eleanor is there. Through Eleanor's life, people could see Jesus, as she lived for Him. She would share how to get to heaven with all that were willing to listen.
