Eleanor H. Hockett Davis Eleanor Harriet Hockett Davis, 89, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. EDT Saturday at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. EDT until the service Saturday at the funeral home.Because of Eleanor's love of nature, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Eleanor and Buck Davis Memorial Fund of The Nature Conservancy's St. Marys River Project, 45 W. Bay St., Suite 202, Jacksonville, FL 32202. Born Eleanor Hockett, her parents were Harry Albert and Ella Smith Hockett of Newberry.While working as an executive secretary for Sun Oil Co., she met and married James Earl Davis Jr. She had a kind word for everyone and will be greatly missed. Survivors include four children, Susan Davis Allen and Patrick Davis, both of Jonesboro, Ark., Jim Davis of Tallahassee and Carol Davis Wright Forshay of Tampa; six grandchildren, Harold Davis Allen and Eleanor K. Hockett Allen, both of New York City, Jennifer Christine Davis and James Andrew Davis, both of Tallahassee, David Paul Wright of Somerset, N.J., and Adam Davis Wright of Dallas; and a great-grandchild, Jordan Davis Wright of Dallas.She was preceded in death in 1998 by her husband of 57 years, James "Buck".
