Obituary of Elaine-Brandt Johnson


JOHNSON Elaine Brandt Johnson died peacefully on June 22, 2004, following a long and valiant struggle with cancer. Born on May 20, 1926, in Lansing, MI, Elaine lived all of her young life there, attended all levels of school including graduation from Michigan State University where she met Roy Johnson. They were married in Lansing on April 2, 1949, and lived during their married life in Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, New York and Jacksonville. Elaine was active in Masonic Rainbow Girls as Grand Worthy Advisor of Michigan, Girl Scouts in Michigan and New York, MSU Alumnae Association Affairs in New York and Florida, Jacksonville Panbellanic Association, and was the founding President of the Jacksonville Chapter of her beloved Alpha Phi sorority, Jacksonville Women's Club, All Saint's Episcopal Nearly New Shop and Secret Cove Women's Club. Elaine will be remembered always for her total congeniality, her beauty inside and out, her willingness to accept challenges, her outgoing spirit a nd her courage in the face of difficulty. Elaine, in her lifetime, was never heard to make an unkind or negative remark about anyone. She was all love and kindness. To know her was to love and cherish her. She is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Roy A. Johnson, son Glenn R. Johnson and daughter Diane Stallings of Jacksonville, daughter Carolyn Pelava of Minneapolis and three grandchildren, Cory Stallings and Ashley and Caitlin Farrell-Johnson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, June 24th with a Memorial Celebration Service for all who knew her held at 10 am in Friday, Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, with the Rev. John Riley presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of Jacksonville, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257, the Susan G.
