Eileen J. Johnson ULSTER PARK- Eileen J. Johnson, 76, of William White Road, Ulster Park, and formerly of New Salem Road, Port Ewen, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2012, at the Kingston Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born in Kingston on March 8, 1935, a daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Tierney) Genther. Eileen was well-known as a school bus driver with various school bus companies in her hometown of Esopus for over 30 years. A member of her local Roman Catholic parish, she was a life member of the St. Remy Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary, and of the Town of Esopus Senior Citizen's Club. In addition to Eileen's love for shopping, she had many hobbies which included making crafts, crocheting, ceramics, baking, line dancing, and attending penny socials and yard sales. She enjoyed traveling by cruise ship, most recently to Bermuda and the Caribbean Islands. Eileen is survived by two daughters, Brenda Ann Johnson of Connelly, and Sandra L. McMahon and her husband David of Ulster Park; one son, Melvin H. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Donita of Ulster Park; and one sister, Marie Cook and her husband Cookie of Lake Katrine. Eight grandchildren who she idolized above all, Joseph Rapp, Jr., of Kingston, Deputy Sean McMahon of Ulster Park, Airman Andrew Peterson (USAF) stationed at FE Warren AFB and his wife Kerri, both in Cheyenne, Wyo., Matthew Johnson of Ulster Park, Kevin McMahon of Ulster Park, Kayla Peterson of Connelly, Katie and Melanie Johnson, both of Ulster Park. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She is predeceased by her husband, Melvin H. Johnson, Sr., who died Feb. 12, 2011; two brothers, Frank Genther and Jack Genther; and one sister, Rita Sangaline. Cremation service arrangements are by the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 27 Smith Avenue, Kingston. Cremation was held at Wiltwyck Crematory. Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, Kingston will be private at the discretion of the family.
