ALBANY Edythe English Clarke died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in New York City on February 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John and Natalie Pyne English. She graduated from Emma Willard School, Troy in 1937 and attended Manhattanville College of Sacred Heart. She retired as the executive secretary of the United Baking Company in Schenectady. Mrs. Clarke was a member of the Mohawk Golf Club in Schenectady. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Albany and the Children of Mary of Kenwood. Her family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of St. Peter's Hospital for their loving care and kindness to her. She was the loving mother of Lawrence Clarke of Albany; sister of Jhan (Mrs. Charles) Choate of Amherst, N.H. and the late John English Jr. and Natalie English DuMary; aunt of Evelyn (Mrs. John) Battin of Albany, John DuMary of Rexford, Thomas DuMary of Calabasas, Calif., Natalie Choate Starr of Wellesley, Mass., Cynthia Choate Bjorlie, Charles Choate and Edith Choate, all of Gloucester, Mass.; many grandnieces and grandnephews also survive. Funeral services Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Historic Church of St. Mary on Capitol Hill, Albany at 9:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
