Edward T. Casey, 80, of Framingham, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, after a long illness. Born and raised in Cambridge, son of the late William and Josephine (Killion) Casey and his step-mother, the late Marie (Barbosa) Casey, he had been a resident of Framingham for more than 40 years. He was a graduate of St. Johns School in Cambridge and earned his LPD degree at Holy Ghost Hospital in Cambridge. During his career as an LPN, he worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, for the United Mine Workers Association in Washington, D.C., and for 27 years at Framingham Union Hospital. He was a longtime and active parishioner of St. Stephens Church in Framingham. Edward was a kind, compassionate, caring person and devoted friend to many, who for years helped numerous people in their time of need. He was a friend of Bill W. He is survived by four brothers, William Casey and his wife, Elva, of Palm Springs, Calif., Francis Casey and his wife, Helen, of Cambridge, Joseph Casey and his wife, Angele, of Homewood, Ala., and James Casey and his wife, Donna, of Waltham; many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and many, many friends. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m., at St. Stephens Church, 251 Concord St., Framingham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Eugene J. McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Stephens Church, 251 Concord St., Framingham, MA 01702.
