SHANKS, Edward Robert RCAF Navigator WWII Librarian with the Geological Survey and The National Research Council (N.S.L. - C.I.S.T.I.) Queen's and McGill Graduate Robert Shanks died Saturday, March 1, 2008 in his 84th year. While Bob had been ill for some time his death came mercifully quick. Beloved husband of Paula (nee Collins). Much loved father of Mary (Jim) and Mike (Emma). Doting grandfather to Maclean, Kathryn, Jake, Erin and Nick. Bob was the son of Arthur W. and Annie Shanks (deceased) of Sharbot Lake. Loved brother to John (Montreal), Lois Boles (Sharbot Lake), Howard (deceased), Noel (Burlington), twin sister Rose Switzer (Kingston) and Adah Crawford (Vancouver). A memorial reception will be held in the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel Reception Centre (1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, Ontario rear entrance 613-544-3411) on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 2 - 4 p.m. with a celebration time of sharing at 3 p.m. In Bob's memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Hearing Society.
