Obituary of Edward-John McPhee


McPHEE, EDWARD JOHN - The death of Edward John McPhee occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday December 10th, 2006. After a lengthy battle with cancer Ed has joined the Lord's Grand Council. Born 1932 the 9th of 17 children to the late Sarah Anne (Bernard) and Wilfred McPhee. Ed served with the 2 RCR in Korea after which he remustered the Canadian Air Force until 1965, later working for Saint John Shipbuilders retiring in 1994. Ed was a member of Korean Veterans, Air Force Association and was a 4th degree Charter member of the Knights of Columbus council 6595. He was honored with Grand Knight of the year for New Brunswick in 1983. Ed was dedicated and involved with his church and his community, an avid outdoorsman who tied some of the best salmon flies to come out of New Brunswick. All will miss Ed's boisterous laughter. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Lois Dawn (Dorman) McPhee; his children and their spouses Randy & Bonnie McPhee, Tara McPhee, Breck & Erin McPhee, Kelly & Grant Lawson, Holly & Robert Keenan, Tammy & Patrick Doiron; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters Florence, Jean and Doris; three brothers Johnny, Wally and Larry; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Ed was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. There will be a Knights of Columbus Tribute on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Fundy Funeral Home followed by a Legion Tribute at 7:30 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Thursday December 14th, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Following cremation a private family interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
