Captain Edward Brown Clark, 83, of Greenville, S.C. and Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Born February 6, 1925, son of the late Edward Dixie Clark and Mattie Brown Clark, Captain Clark had a distinguished career with the Air Force, having served in World War II and Korea. He also served in the Department of Defense during the Cuban Missile Crisis by providing data on the Soviet offensive missiles. He later worked with E Systems in Greenville.Captain Clark was of the Baptist faith and attended Pendleton Street Baptist Church.He is survived by a son, Edward Foster Clark (Ted) of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; a grandson, Logan Foster Clark of Florida; one brother, James Deering Clark and his wife, Rosemary, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; one sister, Martha Jo Kelley and her husband, Lester, of Jacksonville, Fla.; his beloved cat, Smokey Jo; and the many friends who loved him. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 14, 2008, in his Sunday School Department. The funeral and interment will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.Cremation Society of South Carolina is serving the Clark family.
