Obituary of Edna-S. Davis


Edna Steadman Davis, 79, widow of Claude D. Davis Sr., of 702 Furman Hall Road, went home to be with her Lord July 5, 2001. She was born in GreenvilleDavisCounty, a daughter of the late George Washington Steadman and Rosa Lee Turner Steadman. Following her retirement from K-Mart after 14 years, she was a loving caregiver to her husband. For the last six years she was a Crossing Guard at Taylors Elementary and Sevier Middle Schools. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharron "Sherri" and Tony Hawkins, of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Claude and Carolyn Davis, of Blue Ridge; a sister, Geneva Greer, of Greenville; a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Ralph Marshbanks, of Richlands, N.C.; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Ruth Ann Steadman, of Easley; grandchildren, Sandy and Scott Davis, Robin and Rocky Phillips, and Claudia Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Blake, Brent, Raven, Taylor, Brandon, Alli, Karli and Curtis; a very special friend, Bruce Simmons, of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who considered her as a second mom and whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by a sister, Grace Turner; and a granddaughter, Donna Davis. Service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West. Pallbearers will be Eric Thomas, DeWayn Wilborne, Brad Thomas, Rudy Greer, Nick Syphrit and Keith Hembree. Members of the Elize Burns Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escorts. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The family is at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospital Hospice, 414A Pettigru St., Greenville, SC 29601; or Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church Mission Fund, 19 Sidney St., Greenville, SC 29609.
